Description
Cummins Falls State Park, located on the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River, highlights Tennessee's eighth largest waterfall in volume of water and is 75 feet high. Although its a very rugged climb down into the gorge, the swimming hole is a popular spot for local residents of Jackson and Putnam counties. Although it's one of the latest additions to the Tennessee park system, the gorge area of the park remains in pristine condition, just as it was a century ago.
The gorge and plunge pool below the falls can only be reached on foot. The two routes that descend into the gorge are approximately one mile and 1.5 miles. Both routes are steep and drop over uneven terrain. A scenic overlook offers views of the falls without having to descend into the gorge.
