Description
During mid October colorful autumn foliage signals the end of summer, and campers and hikers are out enjoying cooler temperatures at Poe Paddy State Park. The unusual names, Poe and Paddy, are the names of two prominent mountains in this area. The Civilian Conservation Corps carved out two parks from the Pennsylvania forest during the mid 1930s. Poe Paddy and Poe Paddy Valley state parks are surrounded by 198,000 acres of Bald Eagle State Forest land. Access roads, such as Treaster Valley Road shown here, lead to these parks through the Bald Eagle State Forest which offers a pleasant drive, and a quiet retreat from the hubbub of city life.
