Description
One of four lighthouses to mark the San Blas Shoals, the present day tower was built about 130 years ago. The Cape San Blas Lighthouse has been threatened by many Gulf Coast hurricanes over the years, but erosional tides were the biggest nuisance thoughtout its stint on the Cape. No longer needed as a navigational aid, a move inland was in order. Now a welcome landmark in Port St. Joe, the lighthouse was moved from the Cape to George Core Park in 2014. Located on the shoreline of St. Joseph’s Bay, both keeper's cottages, oil house and lighthouse tower are part of the bayside park and are open to the public for tours.

Such a wonderful and beautiful shot! Love the use of the foreground grasses in the windy flow!
