Description
From a first glance, the Boerne City Park appears as a typical urban park, complete with sport fields, tennis courts and outdoor swimming pool. But in addition, a rare gem is located along the banks of the Cibolo Creek. Tucked away in a corner of the park visitors will find the 160 acre Cibolo Nature Center. Here a precious section of Upper Cibolo Creek, lined with huge bald cypress trees, protects the state's disappearing marshland and area wildlife. A unique conservation model offers students, young and old, a chance to study and learn from the natural world, and helps to encourage the enjoyment of nature.
Creek crossings are a must if you want to explore this section of the park. Stepping stones form a pathway across, relying on a keen balance if you have a strong desire to keep dry.
