Description
Duluth, Minnesota, once land of the Ojibwe Peoples, was transformed into one of the largest inland seaports in the world. Its streets and mansions were built by timber and mining profits. Today, the waterfront still sees ships laden with iron ore, coal and grain, headed for a 2,400 mile journey through the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean.
The early morning bustle of this seaport city is slowly brightened by a spectacular sunrise. Duluth and neighboring Wisconsin's city of Superior are separated by Superior Bay and connected by Richard I. Bong Bridge. The two cities cover the western corner of the world's largest freshwater lake, Lake Superior.
