Description
An Atlas V rocket, heading downrange from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, leaves a telltale contrail and follows with a hearty rumble. One of six unique Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicles (EELV), the Atlas V gets an additional boost from the world's largest solid rocket motors. About 15 times faster than a bullet, the rocket achieves speeds of 22,000 mph.
