Description
Long before there were automobiles and the famous Route 66, wealthy Americans were able to travel to see the great Wonders of the West by train. Once the Topeka and Sante Fe completed a rail-line to the Grand Canyon's South Rim, more and more visitors would experience the world's greatest natural wonder.
Here in Williams, the southern terminus of the Grand Canyon Railroad, sightseers were only 62 miles from the Grand Canyon. Hosting guests from all over the world, the Grand Canyon Hotel in Williams opened its doors in 1891. Proud to be the oldest hotel in Arizona, the two-story European-style hotel features 25 beautifully decorated rooms.
