Description
The Joshua Tree, a species from the yucca family, dots the southern California deserts. Here the late day sun in Death Valley turns this scene into glowing desert. Some of the finest stands of Joshua trees grow in a mountain-rimmed valley called Lee Flat. Further to the south where it's higher and cooler in the Mojave Desert, the yucca brevifolia thrives, giving the Joshua Tree National Park its name.

Congratulations Ben. This image captures the deep stillness and feeling that time moves very slowly in Death Valley very well. The photo has a feeling of film. You image is featured this week in the 1 A Day Desert Southwest Photography Group. Please archive your image in the May 2022 Features discussion thread for archiving.
