Description
Located on the north side of the Jupiter Inlet, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse was completed just before the Civil War broke out. Darkened for five years, the light was relit in 1866.
Built with a double walls of red brick, the lighthouse is 105 feet tall. Perched on a natural sand dune, the light is actually 146 feet above sea level and its original Fresnel lens still broadcasts its beam nearly 25 miles out to sea.
The Loxahatchee River Historical Society operates the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, museum and tours. The lighthouse is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm except Mondays.
