Description
Located just east of Wartburg, Tennessee, the Wild and Scenic Obed River was added to the National Park Service inventory in 1976. Offering some of the best whitewater in the east, the Obed has earned its "wild" designation in many ways. Well off the beaten path and miles from the interstate, the Lily Bluff Overlook is the perfect perch to survey the Obed watershed. Off in the distance there are faint traces of Jack Rock Falls, Camel Rock Rapid and Wootens Folly. For climbers, warnings are issued that training and experience are absolutely essential before attempting the Obed cliffs. Here, any help is many miles away.
