Description
Mother Nature has been very kind to Tennessee with extraordinary scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains in the east to the Mississippi River in the west. Waterfall fans, listen carefully ... Tennessee is the land of waterfalls, with more than 800 named falls scattered over two-thirds of the state.
Here near Crossville in Cumberland County, Ozone Falls State Natural Area is a popular stop because it is so close to the road. The roadside trail leads to the top of Ozone Falls were it plunges 110 feet over a sandstone cap rock into a rock-strewn pool. It's not an easy task to descend to the waterfall base where Fall Creek disappears from the large plunge pool underground and re-emerges a few yards downstream. Nature has carved out an impressive amphitheater behind the falls where visitors may walk under the waterfall.
