Description
Following Maui's famous Road to Hana, sightseers may continue on to the community of Kipahulu and the Palapala Ho‘omau Congregational Church. Here along Maui's lush coastline just beyond milepost 41, is the 160 year old church and the grave of Charles Lindbergh and his wife.
Christian missionaries from New England arrived in Kipahulu during the mid 1800s and raised the church out of limestone coral and lava rock, following a simple style of American country churches.
Kipahulu not only provided a peaceful place for the church, but also served the Lindberghs as a quiet retirement getaway for a number of years. Falling ill at his home in Connecticut, Lindbergh wished to spend the final week of his life on Maui and was laid to rest in the Palapala Ho'omau cemetery in 1974.

Very nice capture. I did not find this little church.

Lots of over-the-top press on continuing on the Hana Highway after the National Park. We found it a little tight in spots, but it lead to some more places to see. Sorry you missed it.
