Description
Since the completion of Glacier National Park's Going-to-the-Sun Road, a 50 mile engineering marvel, the park's Two Medicine section has taken a backseat. During the late 1800s, before the existence of the park's east to west alpine road, Two Medicine was the most popular destination in the park. The name was attributed to two Native American ceremonial lodges, and today Two Medicine is still one of the most sacred areas to the Blackfoot Indians.
Springtime arrives much later here in northern Montana, if fact the Going-to-the-Sun Road sometimes remains closed from snowdrifts into early June. This field of wildflowers seems to wait on the warm days of June to spring up from their frozen beds.
