Description
One of Maui 's most popular scenic byways leads tourist on a hair-raising adventure long the cliff-hugging Hana Highway. Beginning at the town of Kahului, Route 36 runs along the northern coast and around to the eastern town of Hana. Designated a Millennium Legacy Trail in 2000 by President Bill Clinton, this scenic route encounters over 600 curves, 46 single lane bridges and 18 major waterfalls.
One of the first stops on this scenic route is the Twin Falls Farm Stand, located at milepost 2. Open to the public, the Lower Twin Falls is directly behind the stand (your patronage is appreciated). A stream-side path leads to the upper falls. This scene captures the Lower Falls when the stream is flowing at a substantial rate.
