Description
This Jensen Beach mansion was the second home to sit atop Mount Elizabeth in Martin County, Florida, with the first wood-frame house burning down in 1921. During the Depression Era, Atlanta businessman, Willaford Leach and wife Anne Bates Leach purchased the property in 1936. Following the popular architectural design at the time, the Coca-Cola heiress named her new Mediterranean revival mansion "The Tuckahoe." The estate was the hub of social life in Martin County until the Leach family move to Palm Beach in the early 50s.
Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, the estate is now the centerpiece of Indian RiverSide Park in Jensen Beach. Here on Florida's Treasure Coast, the mansion is "the place" for wedding ceremonies, receptions and events.
