Description
This dramatic lighthouse scene captures a springtime burst of wildflowers at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area. In the distance stands the Yaquina Head Lighthouse, keeping watch along the rugged Oregon Coast. Here on the Yaquina Head visitors are not only treated to tours of the tallest lighthouse in Oregon, but are also able to descend to the base of a 70 foot cliff where rich tidal pools hold an array of sealife. Here, during low tide, explorers may find jelly fish, anemones, limpets, clams, worms, chitons, sponges, sea stars, urchins and crabs. Warming up on the rocks nearby, guests may spot seals and sea lions. Offshore, porpoises, fish and whales add to wonders of Yaquina Head. Receiving nearly a half million visitors each year, Yaquina Head is one of Oregon’s most popular coastal parks.
