Artemis I is the first in a series of complex missions that will enable human exploration of the Moon and eventually Mars. The NASA program will put the first woman on the Moon, so the program is named after the Greek Goddess Artemis, the twin sister of Apollo.
Artemis 1 is the first test flight of the new spacecraft and the Orion crew capsule. The Space Launch System rocket, measuring 384 feet tall, will launch without a crew on an approximately 42-day mission, during which it will orbit the moon before returning to Earth.
Artemis 1, weighing 6.5 million pounds, is currently scheduled to launch no earlier than November 14, 2022, from Launch Complex 39B at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
This early morning scene was taken from the Canaveral National Seashore in Brevard County.
Born in western Pennsylvania, Ben quickly discovered that his parents were passionate about travel, photography, oil painting and wildlife. Being the youngest member of his family, he grew up exploring much of the eastern half of the United States at an early age with his older brothers. Ben's photography is about that part of his youth, echoing that same passion that his parents had of the Great Outdoors. Visit
