Description
Connecting the cities of Estes Park to Central City, Colorado's Peak to Peak Scenic Byway highlights the mountains of the Front Range. Byway visitors will be treated to old mining towns, Victorian architecture and views of Longs Peak.
Many old gold mines along CO-72 and 119 still attract weekend prospectors who also pan for gold in mountain streams. Dating back to 1918, Peak to Peak is Colorado’s oldest scenic byway and has been captivating travelers with its scenery for over 100 years. Pictured here are some of the first signs of autumn were scrub oaks take on a golden hue, creating a sharp contrast with the deep greens of fir trees. A dusting of early snowfall tops some of the mountain peaks of the Front Range.
