Built before the Civil War, James Wright Daniel and several business partners began selling a variety of general merchandise out of the Daniel’s Store. It was also known as the Beehive, probably because it was a one-of-a-kind general store in rural Ware Shoals. A Laurens County community gathering place, the store also housed a doctor's office and was used as a polling place.
James Martin bought the establishment in 1878, but died the following year. His son took over at the time and the Martin Brother’s General Store remained in the Martin family for 119 years. The store still operates, but offers limited hours from Wednesday through Saturday.
Born in western Pennsylvania, Ben quickly discovered that his parents were passionate about travel, photography, oil painting and wildlife. Being the youngest member of his family, he grew up exploring much of the eastern half of the United States at an early age with his older brothers. Ben's photography is about that part of his youth, echoing that same passion that his parents had of the Great Outdoors. Visit
