The historic Santa Fe Depot, built in 1903 by the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway, stands as a monument to Raton’s Spanish heritage. Like many of the Santa Fe railroad depots, the one-story, stucco and brick structure was designed in the familiar Spanish Mission Revival style which appears throughout New Mexico. The Raton train station, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, includes a tower bearing the town’s name.
Brightened by the early morning sun and framed by a dark, threatening sky, the depot takes on a golden-hour glow that further enhances it stucco exterior. It's an early autumn morning and there's not much of a stir yet at the Raton Depot.
Born in western Pennsylvania, Ben quickly discovered that his parents were passionate about travel, photography, oil painting and wildlife. Being the youngest member of his family, he grew up exploring much of the eastern half of the United States at an early age with his older brothers. Ben's photography is about that part of his youth, echoing that same passion that his parents had of the Great Outdoors. Visit
