Description
One of the easy trails in the Red River Gorge Geological Area (Clifty Wilderness) leads to a rare natural waterfall arch. Rock Bridge Arch is located near the midpoint of Trail #207, on mile long trail along the Swift Creek. A small waterfall and beach area, in addition to Rock Bridge, make for an exceptional outing in this wooded preserved.
The Rock Bridge was initially formed when a waterfall passed over resistant rock, and the powerful creek worked its way through crevices in the softer rock below. Over time, the flowing water created an opening under the 60 foot span, the only one of its kind in the Red River Gorge.
