Artist's Description

Off to a small start near the Galena Summit in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, Idaho's Salmon River eventually turns into the Snake River's largest tributary. The Salmon River Scenic Byway follows a small section of the river as it makes its way northward toward the junction of the North Fork. Here at the town of North Fork, the Salmon makes an abrupt turn westward, heading across the state and cutting its way through the mountainous Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness and the Gospel-Hump Wilderness. It's amazing how the river was able to slice its way through central Idaho, the most rugged terrain of all the Rocky Mountain states.

About Ben Prepelka

Ben Prepelka

Born in western Pennsylvania, Ben quickly discovered that his parents were passionate about travel, photography, oil painting and wildlife. Being the youngest member of his family, he grew up exploring much of the eastern half of the United States at an early age with his older brothers. Ben's photography is about that part of his youth, echoing that same passion that his parents had of the Great Outdoors. Visit
