Description
The Downers Covered Bridge, built in 1840 by James Tasker, is also known as the Upper Falls Covered Bridge. Utilizing the Town lattice truss, the historic wooden single span is 129 feet long and crosses the Black River in Weathersfield, Vermont. The bridge was named after Abraham Downer, who was an early settler in the area.
The covered bridge was extensively restored during the mid 1970s by M. Graton and Associates of Ashland, New Hampshire. Additional renovations were completed by Wright Construction of Mount Holly, Vermont. The bridge supports local traffic and crosses a very scenic section of the river.

So glad they restore these old, historic covered bridges. So picturesque in autumn foliage. Lovely capture, Ben. L/fv
