Description
The Bears Ears, rising up over 8700 feet in elevation, lends its name to a huge section of untamed desert wilderness in southeastern Utah. The Bears Ears National Monument marks the southern boundary between the red-rock Colorado Plateau and the high elevations of the Manti-La Sal National Forest.
One of the easy Bears Ears hikes follows a creek bed on the way to a Cedar Mesa Puebloan ruin. With a distance of just about a mile to the House On Fire makes this one of the most popular hikes in the area. The name of the archeological site comes from the striated patterns on the rock roof above the structures that appear as flames in certain conditions when the sun lights up the rocks.

Never been to The Bears Ears. What a wonderful capture. Nothing like the red sandstone of Utah.
