Considered a symbol of happiness, abundance, contentment and well being, Laughing Buddha statues are often kept in homes, gardens, and public buildings. Often referred to as the Fat Buddha, especially in the Western world, the statue is though to bring positive energy and good luck. Almost always shown smiling or laughing, some of this first known Buddha statues date back to the 14 century Ming dynasty.
