Description
Frequently passing two abandoned cottonseed silos for years in Waco, Texas, Joanna Gaines came up with a bold idea to transformed the two block area into an attractive home decor destination. Already famous for the HGTV show Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna Gaines tackled the old Waco landmark, turning Joanna's daydream into reality. The Magnolia Market opened in 2015, then came the Silos Baking Company in 2016, and followed by the Magnolia Press.
Enjoying much success, further expansion included two rows of lifestyle retail shops, a baseball (wiffleball) field, an old 1894 Waco church, and another market place entrance on 8th street. The addition of a baseball field became a way to pay homage to Waco history, as the Silos' grounds were once home to Katy Park where Waco baseball began in the early 1900s.
Aside from a cluster of food trucks, the retail and snack shops, the Gaines couple's vision also included the idea of a place where people could gather and spend time together. An instant success, crowds come in droves. And because of the Silos project, the Waco area has seen a major boost of energy and growth.
