In northern Maryland's Frederick County covered bridge fans will find three historic wooden bridges. All within 12 miles of each other, the trio makes up a beautiful driving tour of the countyside.
Still supporting local traffic, the Roddy Road Covered Bridge in Thurmont is the highlight of Roddy Road Park. The single lane bridge was built in 1856 and is supported by a king post truss. The red 40 foot long bridge is enhance by autumn's brightly colored foliage. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the bridge crosses Owens Creek.
