Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. This vintage gas pump is from a pre-electric era where gasoline was gravity fed. The clear sight-glass demonstrated the clarity of the gasoline, ensuring customer satisfaction. Luckily the Texaco pumps are not among the rarest collectibles and create a nice outdoor display.
