Description
Twin City, Georgia, started off as two towns, but merged in 1921 in order to survive the effects of the Great Depression. Made up of the towns Summit and Graymont, the Twin City Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places nearly a century after the union. The district includes 135 houses and buildings, some dating back to 1830. Twin City is an excellent example of a railroad strip town.
This old store, located on Railroad Avenue, is most likely not the calling card that the Twin City chamber would use in its promotional material.
