Description
One of the iconic San Antonio River Walk scenes takes in an open-air venue at La Villita and the Rosita's Bridge. The Arneson River Theatre, an outdoor performance theater, was a Works Progress Administration project which spanned the late 30s and early 40s.
Although Arneson died before construction began, it was he who was instrumental in securing funding for the Paseo del Rio. The River Walk theater stage is on the north side of river, while the audience sits on the grass-covered steps on the south side, holding about 800 people.
