Description
Once Gasparilla Island visitors cross over the toll bridge they'll discover a peaceful island community without the typical resort hubbub. They'll find no traffic lights, no billboards, no high-rise buildings, no fast-food chains and very light traffic.
Located on the tip of the island is one of the most valuable pieces of land in Florida's state park system. Here Gasparilla Island State Park occupies 144 acres of beachfront by the Boca Grande Pass, a deep water cut that separates Gasparilla Island from Cayo Costa. Park visitors enjoy picnicking, sunbathing, biking and tours of the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse. Marking the entrance to Charlotte Harbor, the lighthouse and keepers quarters have endured the Gulf's violent storms for the last 120 years.
