Description
Located about 20 minutes from today's I-93, Mont Vernon was first incorporated by legislature in 1803. Pictured here is the Mont Vernon General Store, first established in 1840. Converting an old hat box factory building into the community's only general store, Blood and Temple were the first in a long line of store owners. While the New Hampshire town has slowly changed from a rural farming community to to a resort location, the store has continued to serve its population. Hovering around 2500 residents, the store briefly went out of business.
Dan Bellemore and Mike Wallenius quickly reinvented the store, focusing on the idea of a family-run business. Offering the traditional groceries and local products, the store also boasts of its hot and cold sandwiches. Serving breakfast and lunch meals to go, the store also is ready for its evening customers with heat-and-eat meals.
