Description
Not far from a big-box retailer in Clayton, David Paces Grocery store does its best to hang on in a modern world of big business. Operated by Pace family members for three generations, the 1940s store has shifted it business model to include more hardware and less grocery items. But popular snack items, cigarettes and gas help keep a steady stream of customers.
Located on the busy Covered Bridge Road in Archer Lodge, the store harkens back to the day when locals could buy just about anything they needed. Now closer than ever to the expanding North Carolina capital of Raleigh, the store manages to retain its country look and feel, and of course, its friendly staff.

Fine work of Americana Ben. To think back in the day these places were the heartbeat of the community.

These are the best images, these old stores and gas stations, Ben! They are a disappearing part of the landscape. Nice description!

I love it. All the details are so interesting and the light, color and perspective are awesome!

Great find of this rural country store. It looks like the ones my grandfather would take me to as a child when I visited for the summer in Ga. L/F
