Description
Coupled up, Pennsylvania's Northumberland and Columbia counties preserve one of the largest concentrations of covered bridges in Pennsylvania. Working hard since 2001, the Columbia County Covered Bridge Association has recognized the importance of these historic bridges and realizes a great deal of success in the preservation and restoration of these historic relics.
Pictured here is the Esther Furnace Covered Bridge, built in 1881. One of 19 bridges within Columbia County, the two span bridge crosses the North Branch Roaring Creek. Still open to traffic, the 101 foot bridge was named after the 19th century Esther iron smelting furnace.

Neat shot, Ben. When I was there, I didn’t get down in the creek bed. Glad you did. - Mike (V)
