Description
Over two dozen covered bridges in Columbia and Montour County have bridge fans searching over back-country roads in central Pennsylvania for this historic relics. This scene catches the Rupert Covered Bridge during the autumn season when cooler temperatures and brightly colored foliage makes bridge hunting all the more enticing.
Spanning Fishing Creek, the wooden bridge was built in 1847 for 1637 dollars and named for the nearby village of Rupert. Restored in 2001, the bridge utilizes a new load-bearing modern bridge underneath to support everyday traffic.
