Description
Located on Oregon's westernmost tip, a 245 foot headland at Cape Blanco looks out over the Pacific Ocean, a natural place for a coastal lighthouse. Built in 1870, the 59-foot tower is the oldest lighthouse on the Oregon coast. The powerful light is visible 22 miles out to sea.
The Cape Blanco State Park features eight miles of coastal hiking trails which lead to the beach, ocean viewpoints, and fishing access on the Sixes River. Park visitors will also find a campground, picnic tables and a horse camp with a dozen pipe corrals. A seven-mile trail and a 150-acre open riding area is set up for equestrians.
This coastal scene includes Pyramid Rock, a coastal islet, and a hillside covered in wild irises and lupines.
