Description
Auraria was the site of Georgia's first gold rush in 1832. Boasting a dozen law offices, five taverns, hotels and nearly 20 stores, the population peaked at 1000 residents by 1833.
Today a ghost town, this old country store, closed in the early 1980s is one of the few reminders of a Lumpkin County boom town of yesteryear.
