Description
On March 2, 2012, an EF-3 tornado ripped through Menifee County, cutting a 60-mile-long path of destruction in eastern Kentucky and causing an immense amount of damage. Here at the Broke Leg Falls Park the tornado spread more chaos, uprooting trees, destroying the park infrastructure and changing the landscape forever. The park has since been rebuilt, creating a beautiful day-use park. A pavilion with tables overlooks the Broke Leg Creek Gorge and the stairs that lead down to waterfall viewpoints are clear. The pathway still circles around behind the 60 foot falls offering many more splendid views.
After climbing down slippery stair steps and through the bolder strewn gorge below, there's little doubt left about the naming of Broke Leg Falls.
