Description
Loyalsock State Forest, located in central Pennsylvania, spreads out over three counties and covers over 100,000 acres. Well known for its hardwood forests, hiking trails and trout fishing, the forest is also a land filled with waterfalls. Two dozen area waterfalls are extremely popular and only require a short hike to view them.
Here in Sullivan County, just east off of Route 87, Dry Run Falls is often said to be one of the most picturesque waterfalls in the forest. Best of all it only requires a few steps from a roadside pullout to get a good look. The name Dry Run is somewhat misleading, because it can put on quite a show much of the year. But in this scene, it certainly lives up to its name as the falls is reduced to a single ribbon. An autumn without rain has dried up many waterfalls, but the run here manages to do its best not to disappoint.
