Description
There are plenty of opportunites in the Clayton area to enjoy the great Georgia outdoors. About 10 miles out of town, a few miles off Warwoman Road, Hale Ridge Road leads to a great waterfalls hike. There are two major waterfalls, one on Ammons Creek and the other across the valley at Holcomb Creek Falls. Starting from the upper trailhead, this waterfall hike follows Ammons Creek as it descends to the first waterfall. The upper falls offers an inviting pool below the falls which has many people stopping to enjoy this cozy rest area ... but the real Ammons Creek Falls is ahead just downstream.
Pictured here, Ammons Creek Falls cascades down the mountainside over 100 feet, creating a beautiful waterfall.
Part of a 1.75 mile loop hike, Holcomb Creek Falls lies across the valley and has hikers following a short trail spur to the falls. Another rewarding scene in the Tallulah Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest.
