Description
The Ashley National Forest, covering over a million acres in Utah and Wyoming, incorporates a huge section of land designated as the High Uintas Wilderness. Ranging from 6,000 feet to over 13,500 feet, the forest offers over 500 miles of trails for backpacking and camping. With over a 1000 campsites and miles of roads and trails for ATVs, the area is loaded with places for backcountry camping, quiet solitude and outdoor recreation.
Named for explorer and fur trapper General W.H. Ashley, the headquarters for the Ashley National Forest is located in Vernal, Utah. Created by an executive order from President Theodore Roosevelt, the forest is home for a wide variety of wildlife including elk, moose, deer, coyotes, black bears, raptors, beavers, marten, otters, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, cougars, pikas, and marmots. Tree species include lodgepole pine, aspen, subalpine fir, Engelmann spruce, Douglas-fir, ponderosa pine, white fir, Gambel oak and limber pine.

What a wonderful snow scene, Ben! Absolutely love the light snow on the foreground trees that offer a magical contrast with soft-toned ones immediately behind, and the misty blue/gray color in the background beyond. L/F
