Description
The village of Weston, one of Vermont's oldest Green Mountain towns, dates back to the 1760s. First known as the West Town of Andover, one of the first buildings here was a sawmill on the banks of the West River. Ezekial Pease built a small dwelling and a sawmill in 1780 which lasted 120 years. Ruined by a fire, the mill was rebuilt several times, with the present building erected in 1936. Entrepreneurs converted the mill into a grist mill at that time. Operated by the Orton family, a portion of their products were sold through mail order.
The old Weston Mill Museum is one of three historic buildings in Weston, which provide visitors a thorough look into early nineteenth century life in New England.
